Policy of accessibility

At SERVIPACK we make a constant effort to make our website easy to access and use for everyone. We do this by following the rules of Section 508 (in English) and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.0) produced by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C, the web’s governing body). Following the guidelines of Section 508 is a legal obligation. Web Content Accessibility Guidelines are a set of checkpoints and guidelines that help ensure that web pages are designed and written correctly. Some examples are:

  • Images must have alternative text (therefore, if you cannot see the image, you can still read the text).
  • The color contrast between foreground and background should be noticeable.
  • Possibility to adjust the text size according to user preferences.
  • Headers should be used correctly and have a purpose (they are not just regular text in bold or larger size).
  • Links should make sense on their own (for example, there should not be links that just say “click here”).
  • Tables and tables should be used to design information that expresses different values and should have appropriate headings and summaries.

For those familiar with Section 508 and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, our goal is to achieve compliance with AA standards throughout our site. We also look for opportunities to meet AAA standards.

Extra help

If you have a disability, we recommend that you visit the FCC Accessibility Information Clearing House (in English) and the Access Council website (in English). In them you will find expert advice on alternative screen readers, screen enlargers and other devices that can make using a computer easier and more enjoyable.

We also recommend that you visit My Computer My Way (AbilityNet) which gives you tips on making your computer accessible.
